Privacy notice
Last updated 8 October 2026
Who we are
LIG Investment Club ("the club") decides how your personal data is used and is responsible for it under Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. This notice explains what the club collects, why, who sees it and what your rights are.
What we collect
- Identity and contact details: your name, phone number, email address and, where you give it, your National ID Number. The National ID Number is stored encrypted.
- Next of kin: their name, phone number and relationship to you, if you give them.
- Payment details: the bank or mobile money account for your payouts, and the transaction IDs, amounts and proof of payment you send.
- Your club records: fees, investments, savings goals, plots, instalments, withdrawals, statements and the requests you make.
- Sign-in and security records: your username, a scrambled copy of your password (never the password itself), the sign-in codes sent to you, and a log of sign-ins and changes with the date, time and the device's IP address.
- Messages: the support requests and reports you send through the portal.
Why we use it
- To run your membership: confirm who you are, record payments, credit returns, manage plots and pay withdrawals.
- To keep your account and money safe: sign-in codes, alerts about changes, payout holds and checks against misuse.
- To keep the club's books: the officers and trustees need accurate records, and the law requires financial records to be kept.
- To contact you about your account, payments, statements and club notices.
The club relies on your membership agreement, its legal obligations and, for optional notices, your consent. You can turn optional notices off in your profile at any time.
Who sees it
- The club's officers (administrator, treasurer and chairperson) see what their role needs. Trustees receive approval records and reports.
- The providers that deliver the club's email, SMS and WhatsApp messages, and the company that hosts the website and its backups. They use your data only to provide that service.
- Banks and mobile money providers, when the club sends you a payment.
- Authorities, where the law requires it.
The club does not sell your data or use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
Membership and financial records are kept for as long as the law requires after you leave the club. Sign-in codes expire after 10 minutes. Payment proofs that were uploaded but never sent are deleted automatically.
How we protect it
The site is served only over an encrypted connection. Every account needs a password and a one-time code at each sign-in, officers see only what their role allows, every change to money or personal details is logged, and backups are encrypted.
Your rights
Under the Act you can ask for a copy of the data the club holds about you, ask for wrong or out-of-date data to be corrected, object to any use that your membership or the law does not require, and withdraw consent for optional notices. Most of your details can be viewed and changed in your profile. For anything else, contact the club: +256782546249. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Personal Data Protection Office (pdpo.go.ug).
Cookies
The site uses only the cookies it needs to keep you signed in and to protect its forms. Your browser also remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
Changes
The club may update this notice. The date at the top shows the current version.
